The opposite of noncompliance, is getting a mechanical license! ðŸ§
Don’t let technical terms put you off, RouteNote is here to put it simply!
If you are wanting to distribute a piece of music that covers someone else’s music, you might need to look into getting a mechanical license to prove you have the rights to distribute this content. This doesn’t apply to content that is free to use or in the public domain!
Essentially, a mechanical license is an agreement between a music user and the owner of a copyrighted composition (song).
A mechanical license must include a license number, valid date, valid source and valid info on the track being covered.
Want to obtain a mechanical license for your cover track? We’d recommend Affordable Song Licensing!
Email any documented permission/mechanical licenses to moderation@routenote.com, with the UPC of your release.
Please note! You can also distribute cover tracks through RouteNote without a mechanical license.
