The ‘C’ line refers to the composition copyright line.
Composition copyright is there to identify who owns the copyright on a composition of a track/album. The composition refers to the notes, melodies, phrases, rhythms, lyrics, harmonies, etc. The original creator of the piece.
So therefore, the composition copyright field, identifies who owns the copyright on the composition of the release (e.g. the melody, lyrics, chords).
