The more, the merrier! 🥰
Before you read any further, please be aware that this article only applies to releases with more than one track!
If a release with multiple tracks has four or more primary artists anywhere on it, even if they’re on different tracks, you’ll need to classify it as a various artists release. You just have to click the compilation album checkbox on your album details page when creating your release. This automatically sets the first artist at album level as a primary artist called Various Artists. Stores insist on this; we can’t send a release to our partners with four or more primary artists with anything else in the first artist slot.
Once you’ve set the release as a compilation album, we can then think about crediting the artists. An artist only gets credited at album level if they appear on all tracks in the same role. If no artist appears on all tracks of a various artists release in the same role, this means the only artist at album level would be the automatically generated “Various Artists” primary artist.
Publishing Details
In the Publishing Details section of your release, please list all the composers and lyricists featured on the release. Please list them by their real names, not artist names or band names.

You may wish to avoid needing to classify your release as a various artists release by using featuring, with, or performer roles for your artists instead of primary roles.
