Here is a quick overview of each of the artist role options which are available when creating your release with us here at RouteNote.
Primary
The primary artist is the main performing artist or group credited on a track or release. This is the name most prominently associated with the release.

Featuring/ With
Featuring or ‘With’ artists are normally a secondary artist on a track, such as a singer on a track that was produced and performed by a separate Primary Artist. They are an artist that assists in the creation of the release and are considered a guest or secondary performer.

Remixer
Remixers use the stems (individual files of the vocals or instruments) of an existing track, and rework them to create something new. They will not be credited as the Primary artist, as they did not originally create the track.

Producer
The producer is the one who has overseen and guided the production of the release. This role is also used for the creator of the backing track on a release.

Composer
A composer is the person who wrote the music—meaning, the chords and melody of the track.

Lyricist
Lyricists are the writers of the lyrics (words) for the release.

Performer
A performer is someone who performs on the release but is not the main artist.

A DJ is someone who plays recorded music for other people.

A conductor is the person who directs the performance of an orchestra or choir.

An arranger recreates an existing composition, changing the instruments, voices, rhythms and tempo to create a new adapted version of the track.

Actor
An actor is a person who portrayed a character on a stage, in films, or on television. You may need to use this artist role if you are releasing music from a soundtrack.
