You don’t need to be master of tech to get your mech ðŸ§
RouteNote have officially partnered with Affordable Song Licensing for all your mechanical licensing needs!
You can distribute covers through RouteNote to Spotify, Deezer, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Nuuday, Anghami, Tidal, KKBOX and JioSaavn without needing a mechanical license. If you want to distribute your release to all stores, including those that offer digital downloads such as iTunes/Apple Music and Amazon Music, you will need to exclude the following territories: USA, Canada, Mexico, India and Pakistan. To distribute to all stores in all territories, or if you are looking to sell physical copies, you’ll need a mechanical license.
Affordable Song Licensing can help you with that!
The idea of Affordable Song Licensing was formed in 2015 when one of the founders, Casey Cole, released cover songs of his own but had a bad experience with a third party licensing service. And so, decided to help out his fellow musicians by starting his own licensing business. Further info can be found on the site, here.
Affordable Song Licensing have “the lowest fee out of any third party licensing agency” for mechanical licenses, at $12 per song, plus royalties. Please note! This will cover both digital and physical sales in the US.
Royalties vary depending on the length of the song and how many downloads you’re likely to sell. Royalties will be the same regardless of which company you use for the mechanical license, as they are set by law. Find out how royalty rates are calculated here!
