What is Deezer?

Deez platforms just get better and better 🎧

For a long while now, Deezer has been one of RouteNote‘s many partners, so we’re pleased to introduce the platform to those of you that may not know much about them.

Home to over 120 million tracks, Deezer is a digital music-streaming platform that allows you to listen to various artists, tracks or podcasts on the go. You can discover new artists with Daily playlists, add your favourites to a self-made playlist, or explore a variety of genres and moods! Deezer offers a range of features to it’s 16 million monthly active users, with 9.6 million of them being paid subscribers at the end of 2021.

Way back in 2007, Deezer launched as the first free and legal music streaming service, a full year before Spotify’s launch! After a global expansion, largely between 2011 and 2013, today, they are available in over 180 countries.

About Deezer

Deezer is completely free to use, but the store does offer Deezer Premium which comes with many benefits such as being ad-free. With Deezer Free, however, you have access to the full library of tracks- a huge plus! It is important to note that with Free on your phone, your listening experience is limited. You will experience shuffled playback and you can skip only six songs per hour. So when you select a specific artist or track, Deezer will play tracks that are similar to your selection. You’ll also be listening with some 30-second ads between tracks. On desktop, however, you’ll be able to listen to specific tracks – but you’ll still get the 30-second ads every so often. With Premium, you’ll enjoy easy listening with no ads, choose if you want to listen with High Fidelity sound, you’ll be able to pick and play any track, and also listen to the tracks offline. With Deezer’s free plan, MP3s are capped at 128Kbps (standard quality), but with Premium Deezer, MP3 files are capped at 320Kbps (Better quality).

There are five different plans available on Deezer: Deezer Free, Deezer Premium, Deezer Duo, Deezer Family, and Deezer Student. You can find out about these plans below. Please note! You can also access kids-only profiles, allowing safe and suitable listening for your little one.

How much does Deezer cost?

Deezer Free is, as one might assume, free! This comes with many benefits and full access to the library of over 120 million tracks.

Deezer Premium covers 1 person. With monthly payments the first month is free, then there is a monthly recurring payment of £11.99. You can choose to pay yearly at £107.91, which works out as a discounted £8.99 per month.

Deezer Student is a discounted Premium plan just for students. This will cover 1 person. It’s similar to Deezer Premium, but instead it’s half the price at £5.99 per month, with the first month free.

Deezer Duo allows Premium features for 2 people. With monthly payments, the first month is free, then all recurring months are £15.99. You can choose to pay yearly for £174.99, an equivalent of £14.58 per month.

Deezer Family will provide Premium for up to 6 people. With monthly payments, the first month is, you guessed it, free! Then all recurring months are £19.99. You can instead choose to pay yearly at £218.99, which works out to be £18.25 per month. You can connect up to 13 devices with this plan.
