Sometimes it’s good to do a little prep ðŸ§
On the majority of stores, I’m afraid this one’s a no – you cannot assign your artist profile to your release before it’s been distributed.
However, this IS possible for Spotify! We have added a new feature on your release page which allows you to select the appropriate Spotify artist profile for your artist.
When creating your release, begin typing your artist name into the relevant field. When you start typing, Spotify suggestions will display below. You can also enter your Spotify URI or URL to locate your page if you’d prefer. Select your correct Spotify artist profile and you’re good to go!
Please note! We’re currently trialling this in a public testing stage, so unfortunately there may be a few issues along the way until we iron these out.
Regarding any other store, there’s no way of assigning your release to a certain artist profile, as release location is dictated by the stores. So it’ll be a case of searching for your release once it’s ingested by stores and checking whether it’s been assigned to the right page.
If your release is assigned to the incorrect artist page, don’t worry! We can request that the stores correct any issues on your behalf. If this is the case for you, please complete our Content Mapping form.
Alternatively, you can request this with Spotify directly if you have already claimed your artist page by clicking here.
iTunes/ Apple Music also allow you to request this correction if you have an Apple Music for Artists account. Head to their FAQs by clicking here to find the link to contact them for this.
