They still deserve praise, just under a different artist role! 🙏
Performing artists credited on classical releases should always use the primary role, not the performer role.
Ensembles, choirs, orchestras, or conductors should all be primary artists. For example:
Primary: Newham Male Voice Quartet
Soloists from within ensembles, choirs, or orchestras, should be primary artists. For example:
Primary: Newham Male Voice Quartet
Primary: Bryn Terfel
Individual artists should be primary artists, for example where a male voice choir is being accompanied by a violinist who is not a member of the choir:
Primary: Newham Male Voice Quartet
Primary: Nigel Kennedy
Individuals who are part of ensembles, choirs, or orchestras, should not be credited individually, either in the primary or performer roles.
Both following examples would be incorrect:
Primary: Newham Male Voice Quartet
Primary: Matthew Lees
Primary: Jim Ploughman
Primary: Brin Foyer
Primary: Joe Tinker
or
Primary: Newham Male Voice Quartet
Performer: Matthew Lees
Performer: Jim Ploughman
Performer: Brin Foyer
Performer: Joe Tinker
