Can I upload a waterfall release with RouteNote?

🎶 don’t go chasing waterfalls 🎶

What is a waterfall release?

It’s a type of release where individual tracks are distributed to stores one-by-one, each one building an EP or album as they are uploaded.

Does RouteNote support this type of release?

Here at RouteNote, we’re unable to change the audio on a release once it’s already been approved. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

However…

If you’d like to edit the audio in any way, it’s a case of removing the release and re-uploading it with the updated audio. Therefore, you could remove the release and reupload the entire release, but with your added track.

We are working on a system to allow the same ISRC to be used on multiple tracks within the same RouteNote account, however this is not ready just yet – I’m afraid we don’t have an ETA but we hope to launch this soon so keep an eye out!

Spotify will automatically attempt to link tracks that match already existing content. If a match is found, the play counts for the linked tracks will be aggregated and the total amount of plays will be displayed on both tracks.

It’s best to ensure that the metadata (such as artist name, song title, song length etc.) matches the existing content on Spotify. Each piece of metadata that doesn’t match decreases the chance of it being linked. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that track linking will be successful but you can try to contact Spotify’s support if it hasn’t happened automatically.
