How do I keep streams and plays on stores when uploading a new version of a track?

Life hack to getting your stream count back 🧠

If you’re wanting to reupload a release due to an updated version of your audio, then that’s no problem at all. Just follow our guide below!

The first thing to do; Create your replacement release.

Please note! Once a UPC has been approved in the RouteNote system, it can’t be reused on another release. So you’ll need to add a new code to the release. If you leave this section blank, we will automatically generate these for you with no costs involved!

Once you’ve done this, let us know the UPC of your original release at support@routenote.com and we can process removal of this. Please also let us know the replacement UPC and we can pass this over to our moderation team for priority review.

Spotify will automatically attempt to link tracks that match already existing content. If a match is found, the play counts for the linked tracks will be aggregated and the total amount of plays will be displayed on both tracks.

Please note! It’s best to ensure that the metadata (such as artist name, song title, song length etc.) matches the existing content on Spotify. Each piece of metadata that doesn’t match decreases the chance of it being linked.

If your tracks still don’t link, you can try to contact Spotify’s support by clicking here.
