Why are adverts appearing on my YouTube video?

We know who, what, where…but why? ❔

Ads are used across YouTube videos for monetisation purposes. These are run automatically by YouTube, so ads might appear on your uploaded videos even if you haven’t monetized the videos yourself. The ads shown should be relevant to the viewer, but the preferences can be amended by the YouTube user to ensure they’re seeing the types of ads which fit their lifestyle.

If you wanted to monetise your channel, you will need to apply for the YouTube Partner Programme. For information on eligibility, click here.

Please also consider that if your video features content to which you don’t hold all necessary rights, the rights holder may have chosen to place ads on it. But again, YouTube can place ads on your videos, even if you’re not part of the YouTube Partner Program.

For further help with seeing ads on your YouTube videos, please head to the relative article found in YouTube’s Help Centre.
