What is the public domain?

A wonderful world of freebies in the palm of your hands šŸŒŽ

TheĀ public domain refers to all the creative work to which no exclusive intellectual property rights apply. This means that the content or work is not protected by copyright law or other restrictions. You can use these freely, as well as alter, share, copy, or sample the content.

Read more on whether you can use a sample in the public domain for your release by clicking here. Make sure you do your research so that youā€™re 100% confident in the copyright status of the recording you want to sample before you use it.

Please be aware that your release may not be eligible for Content ID stores if you have used samples from the public domain. Read more about it here. Content ID stores consist of YouTube,Ā Facebook,Ā InstagramĀ andĀ TikTok;Ā YouTube MusicĀ will still be available to you as a store, as it does not use a Content ID system.
